Ducati Diavel Service Manual: Removal of the front forks
Before removing the front forks, it is first necessary to remove the
following parts: 
Loosen the clamp screws (1) holding the fork legs to the steering head (3).
Loosen the clamp screws (2) and (26) securing the fork legs to the bottom yoke (4).
Withdraw the fork legs (5) and (6) downwards in order to carry out to all the necessary overhaul operations.

It is advisable to loosen the top cap (14) when the fork is still fitted
to the motorcycle.

Lubricate the wheel shaft threaded end with prescribed grease.
Insert the wheel shaft by matching (a) with pins (b).

Refitting the front mudguard
Warning
Do not use the motorcycle without the front mudguard fitted to avoid
the risk of the brake pipes fouling the wheel on
braking.
