Ducati Diavel Service Manual: Removal of the front forks
Before removing the front forks, it is first necessary to remove the
following parts: 
Loosen the clamp screws (1) holding the fork legs to the steering head (3).
Loosen the clamp screws (2) and (26) securing the fork legs to the bottom yoke (4).
Withdraw the fork legs (5) and (6) downwards in order to carry out to all the necessary overhaul operations.

Overhauling the front forks
Note
It is advisable to loosen the top cap (14) when the fork is still fitted
to the motorcycle.

Refitting the timing belts
Rotate the pulleys on the timing belt driveshaft until the timing mark on the
outer roller is aligned with the mark on the
clutch-side crankcase cover.
In this condition, the horizontal cylinder piston will be at top dead centre.
Install in the alternator cover seat the tool code 88713.20 ...
Removing outer components
Note
The following removal operations are required in order to renew and/or
clean the crankcase halves. If the original
crankcase halves are to be reused, then the removal of these components is not
essential.
